I have always been on the outside looking in when it comes to meditation. I know how good it is for me! When I do it consistently, I feel wonderful, in control with a sense of contentment that seems to run just under my skin. When I fall away from it, just like any exercise or other beneficial routine, I find it hard to start up again.
Well, this app makes it easy to keep up, enjoyable and something to look forward to everyday. Our favorite mindfulness app is the Insight Timer (Available for Android and IOS). It is an extremely popular free meditation app. Upgrade for a couple of bucks for extra features that are full of value.
You can set up your profile and privacy on the app. You can join various communities, connect with friends, or make new friends. There are a host of free guided meditations including those for restful sleep, compassion, and Chakra clearing. There are more than 900 meditation teachers to choose from in 25 languages.
There is of course, the important timer. It’s easy to use, and you can change your daily practice from meditating for a minute, to 24 hours! There is also a choice of bells you can chose from. I enjoy the Sakya bell and I have it ring three times to begin and end my meditation. On the timer page, you can choose from free ambient sounds to newly added collections from Calm to Inspire. The app keeps track of how many minutes you’ve meditated and how many consecutive days. If you’re a bit competitive like me, you enjoy seeing this number increase.
You can join a variety of groups from Rumi to Women Meditate Worldwide, post messages on your groups, as well as send messages to friends and community. They have an email address for assistance a well as an FAQ page.
